Matt Healy: The 1975 Are Going on “Indefinite Hiatus”
English pop rock band, The 1975, are taking a break from the concert scene.
The 1975 – known for hits such as “Chocolate”, “Give Yourself a Try” and “About You” – are currently on their fifth world tour, titled “Still … At Their Very Best”. They stopped by the Golden 1 Centre in Sacramento, California on Wednesday, 27 September.
In the midst of their performance, frontman Matt Healy made the announcement about the band’s hiatus, as recorded and posted online by a fan in attendance.
“After this tour, we will be going on an indefinite hiatus of shows, so it’s wonderful to have you guys with us tonight,” Healy is heard telling the crowd. “We always love … playing for you guys whenever we have the chance. It’s wonderful you’re all here. Thank you so much.”
Jamie Oborne, the band’s manager, hinted at the hiatus back on Instagram in August when promoting tickets for the “final” show dates for the European leg of the tour.
The 1975’s world tour will culminate in the Netherlands in March 2024. Still, we can only remain hopeful that, although they won’t be performing for a long time, they may just concentrate on making new music in the studio instead!
